Another Great Entry

Introducing Feature #1: iNation

I’ve noticed that a lot of interviews with Mac users always revolve around the Mac, without any in-depth mention of the iPod. Being creative, I’d like to change that today by announcing: iNation. This is a weekly feature where I interview high profile people (bloggers, software developers, etc.) about some of the Apple products they use to complement their digital lifestyles.

Jordan CharkThis week on iNation, we have Jordan Chark under the spotlight. Jordan is a 13 year-old blogger who currently resides in Vancouver. He writes for several blogs, including MacApper and JordanChark.com. I asked him about his iPods, his music and his thoughts on both the iPhone and Apple TV.

Marvin: How many iPods do you currently own?
Jordan: I currently own one, a 5.5G 80GB iPod. I bought it for myself this past January. I hadn’t ever before owned an iPod, and as an avid music listener, (and not to mention Apple fanboy) I thought it was about time.

Marvin: What accessories do you use with your iPod?
Jordan: Aside from a general purpose case to prevent scratching and such, I don’t use any. I believe it’s well worth the money for such a fragile device. After owning my iPod for 6 months, out of the case it still looks brand new.

Marvin: Name 5 tunes/podcasts on one of your iPods right now.
Jordan: In terms of music, my most listened to songs at the moment are:

  • Henrietta - The Fratellis
  • Float On - Modest Mouse
  • Nimas - Kele 6
  • Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand
  • How to Save a Life - The Fray

and Podcasts:

Marvin: iPhone/Apple TV. Got one or planning to get one?
Jordan: I have neither, nor am I planning to purchase either. Regarding the iPhone: Firstly, I’m in Canada, so it’s not likely I’d have the chance to get one anyways. Secondly, for the amount of features I’d actually use (mainly simple phone use, email, WiFi), I’m not paying $500 in addition to a contract.

Last, I really don’t have much use for an AppleTV as I do not have an HDTV, nor do I spend much time in front of the actual TV- I prefer to enjoy my media on my MacBook.

Marvin: I couldn’t agree with you more on that last point. Jordan, thank you so much for your time.

That’s it, the first edition of iNation is complete. I’ve got more iNation interviews lined up, but I’d also like to know what you think of this new weekly feature. Too long, too short or too boring? Drop me an email (marvin at 50volts dot com). I’d love to chat.
