As a Mac blogger, I often browse the Apple section on Digg, looking for and commenting on new stories that get submitted. Today’s update to Digg featured threaded comments, which I’m actually beginning to like. Here’s a complete breakdown of it.
Update #2: All seems to be sorted now, the new comments are here to stay.
Update #1: It seems that some of the comments are currently down, probably due to an overload.
They were very nicely done, with “Ajaxy” goodness. Only the first level of comments are shown; you have to click on a link to reveal deeper threads. Alternatively, there is an option at the top that allows you to make every comment visible.

The comment textboxes now appear under every comment, making it much easier to write up your replies.

I think this is a much needed usability feature that a lot of Diggers have cried out for. The actual usage felt slightly slow, but that’s probably just the sheer number of users trying out the new feature.
Props to the Digg crew for finally rolling it out. Now, let’s look forward to the “pictures” section on Digg. Oh, my sharp eye also noticed a new color for the Digg hoody. Just thought I’d mention it as well.

Looks like a welcome addition, although I’m not browsing Digg a whole lot lately. After getting onto the whole RSS bandwagon, I just find myself having more than enough to read. (you try adding all blogs under the weblogs inc. and gawker umbrellas! well, maybe not all…)
That hoodie looks comfy though, might have to pick up a couple items from Jinx soon.
